About the driving test... There are currently 14 car driving test routes operating from Ayr test centre. They cover a wide area with some going through nearby towns and villages such as Prestwick, Monkton, Mossblown, and Annbank.
Your driving test will start with an eyesight check and some vehicle safety questions. You will then start your practical driving test which will include some specific manoeuvres.
The test takes roughly about 40 mins depending on road and traffic conditions. Throughout the test the examiner will be looking for an overall safe standard of driving, including when you are carrying out the set exercises. You are allowed up to 15 driving faults (16 or more results in failure). However, if you commit one serious or dangerous fault you will fail the test.
