Checks under the bonnet ... Before you start your practical driving test, your driving examiner will ask you two questions to test your knowledge of the car that you are about to drive. These questions are called the “Show me / Tell Me Questions”. Click the link (highlighted in green) or here to view or download a full list of the questions and the answers plus the combinations that they are set in.
Below is a picture of the Renault Clio engine, the four parts of the engine regarding some of the questions are indicated by the arrows. I go over all the questions with you, including how to open the bonnet, and also how to do the checks.... it's pretty simple really...

The 'Show me / Tell Me Questions' require you to explain to the driving test examiner where and how to check the tyres, brakes, fluid levels, lights, direction indicators, power steering and horn. You will be asked two questions, one 'show me' and one 'tell me' question. You can't fail if you get any of them wrong, but it would count as a driving error.
